Happy to report another very awesome happening for February!
Back in December, we entered some of our favorite images into a contest the good people at Shoot & Share were holding. A week or so ago, we received a email with the most awesome news. One of our engagement images had actually placed in their top 10!

•Over 26,000 images we’re entered and fellow photographers from all over the world were the voters.

We are so honored to have had so many others enjoy our photo as much as we do & to have made it into the top 10! Below is the placing image and a link to where you can see more of this engagement session!

Allison & Brycen’s Fair Engagement

I LOVE continuous education.
I am a firm believer that it doesn’t matter what your passion is, how good you may or may not be, or if you make $100,000,000 or 2 cents.. There is ALWAYS something to learn and always room for improvement. So whenever I get a free second, I try to check out a workshop. Luckily for me, one of my Super Hero Photographers.. aka one of the Photographers I idealize, offered me a chance at an experience I could never pass up!
A couple days ago, I had the honor of participating and modeling for a workshop taught by Mapuana of Mapuana Reed Photography. For those of you who aren’t familiar with her.. I am more than happy to fill you in! ;o) … Basically, she’s an AMAZINGLY talented glamor photographer, who genuinely believes every woman should feel beautiful in their own skin. In fact, that’s pretty much her logo! Mapuana credits two well known photographers for sparking her love for photography; Naomi Masina & Sue Bryce. With training and mentoring from both Naomi & Sue, plus some time spent on the Creative Live set; Mapuanna is a power house of experience, great direction, beauty & awesome sauce.

The workshop was truly educational and I found value in everything Mapuana discussed. One thing that I agree with wholeheartedly and try to practice myself, is her views on passion vs business. If you do something because you love it (and not for the money) you will always feel relaxed, like you’ve never worked a day in your life. And that feeling is truly a beautiful thing!
On top of what we learned photography wise; Her equally amazing hair & make up artist, Jessica Freitag, also showed us a thing or two during the class! She educated us on her work process from start to finish, hair and make up tips and all the products she loves to use on clients.  And an extra bonus to the whole experience.. was getting to meet the other wonderful photographer’s also attending. (Like the wonderful Kelcy, of KPA Photography!)

I am extremely grateful to Mapuana for allowing me to attend and model for her & the workshop. I cant wait to be able to use all the information I learned to become an even better photographer!

For anyone interested in Mapuana’s workshop, she will be hosting another one very soon. And of course, I highly recommend attending!
Ohh!! And one thing I forgot to mention was how I felt after all of this. I was all kinds of dolled up & I felt like the most beautiful girl ever!!! Which is exactly what Mapuana wants you to feel.. Gorgeous! So when you book a session with her, I suggest having something fun planned for after. It could be a night on the town or a special dinner for two. Trust me! Your gonna want to show of how wonderfully beautiful you feel afterwards! (I wasn’t able to go out because my little gentleman was feeling sick. So I decided to take a few photographs with him.)

Below are some of my favorite photos from the workshop taken by Mapuana. I adore them all very much and I’m sure you will as well. Interested in checking her out, booking a session or joining her workshop? Her website and facebook fan page links are also below!

INSPIRATION – I wanted to take a few photos showing my love & support for my baby nephew who has a rare form of brain cancer. For those who don’t know, his name is Adam, of Angels for Adam.. Mapuana was 100% for the idea and did a fabulous job! If you would also like to show your support for baby Adam, you can follow his journey through his facebook fan page.. https://www.facebook.com/AngelsForAdam
